Starparty answers the question you actually have on a marginal evening: given this site, this aperture, this moon, and this forecast, what is worth pointing at tonight?
Target ranking runs against the OpenNGC catalogue computed for the J2000 epoch, with weather from Open-Meteo. A small refractor under a bright moon gets a different list than a large scope on a dark night, which is the whole reason not to hand everyone the same catalogue.
Plan, field, log, history
Those four steps are one activity, so the app is built as a loop rather than a set of separate tools.
Field mode stays inside red light, so working through the queue does not cost you the dark adaptation you spent the last half hour building. Logging is deliberately cheap — captures, filters, integration time, and whether it was a keeper, in a few taps — because a log you have to sit down and write afterwards is a log that does not get written.
History is what the loop is for. Total integration accumulates per target and per site, along with the conditions that produced your better results and the objects you still have not caught. The record only gets more useful the longer you keep feeding it.
